Sara Tommasi , former showgirl and well-known face on Italian television, has turned the page after difficult years marked by scandals, addictions and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
What happened to Sara Tommasi?
Today, at 43, she lives a peaceful life in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, alongside her husband Antonio Orso , an entertainment manager whom she married in 2021. “I was reborn here,” she declared in a recent interview with Diva e Donna, recounting her daily life far from Italy and the tumultuous years of the past.
In Sharm el-Sheikh, Sara works at the Hard Rock Cafe , where she performs in the evenings, feeling like a “diva” again. The couple bought a house on the Red Sea, supporting themselves with savings, real estate investments and Antonio’s work, also managed remotely. “Many took advantage of me, but that chapter is closed,” Sara confessed, reflecting on the dark years between 2009 and 2018, when her illness led her to make bad choices, such as participating in hard-core films under duress and abusing drugs. Thanks to the support of her parents, especially her mother who passed away in 2022, and long periods of treatment, Sara was able to get her life back on track.
Despite her newfound serenity, there is one desire she has not been able to realize: becoming a mother. “I would have liked to have a child with Antonio, but after an operation on my uterus last October, I can’t,” she revealed to Storie di donne al bivio on Rai2. The couple is considering adoption, a project that demonstrates their desire to build a future together. Sara does not hide the fragility linked to her bipolar disorder, which will accompany her forever, but she emphasizes the importance of the support of Antonio, her “guardian angel”.
A return to TV in the future?
Today Sara Tommasi dreams of returning to television, perhaps with a reality show with her husband , and of making a film about her life, a warning for those who pursue fame at all costs. Her story is that of a woman who, after falling into the abyss, found the strength to be reborn, demonstrating that the past does not define who we are. With a smile and a new awareness, Sara Tommasi looks forward, ready to write a new chapter.
